Mitch Colton, Colton Computers Managing Director, sits down with Jo McRae, Anson Medical Director, and Aaron Blowes from Blowes to talk about Managed Services.

Following on from last week’s chat about the Microsoft NCE changes, Mitch is jumping in front of the camera again to talk about Managed Services, why it is a good thing, and why Colton is evolving to move all clients across to managed services agreements.

Just like exercising every day and eating your fruit and veg helps you to stay healthy and save money on doctor’s fees and medicine, Managed IT services help keep your IT systems running smoothly and avoids things breaking.

Our managed services offering gives you IT support for a monthly fixed fee with the proactive monitoring of IT workstations and infrastructure.

We take care of things like:

  • Security including anti-virus software, patches and endpoint management
  • Defining and implementing your compliance strategy
  • Software upgrades
  • Data backups
  • Technical support

Why can’t I just ring you when something goes wrong?

As part of this change, we will no longer be doing break fix work (the industry term for just ringing when something goes wrong). We’re making this change because it’s important to us to be able to maintain high response times and service levels for all our clients. In our experience, many break fix issues could be avoided by having a proactive approach to IT management.

What if my business gets Colton to do all our web hosting?

As we move towards this proactive service model, we will be retiring our unmanaged hosting and DNS (Domain Name System) services over the next 12 months. Our managed services offering gives you support for a monthly fixed fee with the proactive fully managed hosting. In simple terms, we will do everything to make sure your site is secure and everything behind the scenes is up-to-date. Plus, we will install the updates and patches that WordPress issues to keep everything running smoothly.

What has this got to do with Microsoft NCE?

We’re expecting most of our clients to be looking at 12-month licenses for Microsoft 365 because it is the most cost-effective option. It makes sense for us to align our Managed Services agreements to people’s Microsoft licenses, so they know they have the support, monitoring and security they need.

What do I need to do?

If you aren’t on a Managed Services plan at this stage, you can email us on sales@coltoncomputers.com.au or call on 02 6361 1116.

We promise you this isn’t a scary concept or conversation. We’ve always been about providing the best solution for our customer’s individual requirements. We’re making this change because it’s important to us to maintain high response times and service levels for all our clients (including YOU).
